HealthTap is excited to feature Dr. Scott Katz, a Founding Medical Expert. Dr. Katz received his M.D. from The University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School, and completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Katz currently has a private practice in Plano.
Dr. Katz is President of the Plano Physicians Group, an IPA of 600 physicians, and is on the Board of Directors of the Plano Physicians Network. In the past, he has fulfilled various roles for the Medical Center of Plano, including Chairman of Pediatrics, and has been a member of the Executive Committee, the Credentials Committee, the Infection Control Committee, the Physician Advisory Counsel, and the Ethics Committee. Dr. Katz will resume his post as Chairmen of Pediatrics in 2013.
A member of the UTMB Galveston as well as the UNT Health Science Center Clinical Faculty, Dr. Katz has also served as a clinical professor at the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. He has received numerous awards for patient care including the Star Community Newspapers Reader’s Choice Award for Best Pediatrician, as well as D Magazine’s “Best Pediatric Specialists” in Dallas. Dr. Katz is a member of the American Medical Association , Texas Medical Association Big Brothers/Sisters program.
Dr. Katz loves being a Pediatrician because, as he says, what other profession allows you to act silly, tell “dad” jokes to all your clients, and have them respect you more for doing so. When it comes to his work with HealthTap, he sees it as an extension of his medical service. “As a doctor I am basically an educator, and HealthTap is a great forum to educate many new parents at the same time.”
With input from Medical Experts like Dr. Katz, HealthTap is creating a new way to find health information from physicians in an innovative, personalized format, transforming the way medical information is obtained online.
